Re: Anyone using TribeCast??
Tue, June 15, 2004 - 11:53 AMjust to test it out I put it in my home page at:
www.hell.org/~spam
interesting bug: if a friend doesn't have a pic, then it displays the picture of the previous friend.
This does beg the question of what does it do if your first friend doesn't have a picture...

i had to mess with stylesheets a bunch so more customization in that area would be great.
I'd also really prefer a no picture option - there are too many tribes with no images and it just looks sloppy on my site.
Oh and it would be fabulous if you could display whichever tribes have the most recent posts first, instead of alphabetically. -

Re: Anyone using TribeCast??
Thu, June 24, 2004 - 7:35 PMi don't use tribecast, but if you wrap the javascript line in a div with a unique id, you can hide all images in modern browsers.
for example:
<div id="tribecast-wrapper">
--- PUT YOUR TRIBECAST CODE HERE ---
</div>
then, in your stylesheet, add the following rule:
#tribecast-wrapper IMG {
display: none;
}
that will hide all images, and collapse any space they would otherwise take on the page. to hide the images, but keep the space where they would be displayed, use "visibility:hidden" instead of "display:none" -

It's on the sidebar. I used the Typepad format and it seemed to work just fine. At least it looks fine to me, Safari is my web browser. -

Re: Anyone using TribeCast??
Mon, July 26, 2004 - 6:33 PMI just clicked through all the links that everyone posted in this discussion to check out their tribecasts, and the oddest thing happened. I couldn't find them! Not on one single blog was I able to see a tribecast. Is it possible that I have some setting on my computer that renders tribecast invisible? They all looked like fine blogs, nothing else seemed to be off, I just couldn't find a tribecast on any of them. Any insights?

Re: Anyone using TribeCast??
Tue, July 27, 2004 - 1:32 AMI would love to be able to actually use Tribecast with just a regular website. I love the Tribe Cast Idea and I know it used to work on it, but now I guess they locked it up. Oh well.

Re: Anyone using TribeCast??
Tue, July 27, 2004 - 11:02 AMIt's got to be some setting on my computer. I just went back and checked the same sites from work and could see the tribecasts just fine. Could something like Norton Internet Security be blocking them? That's the only thing that I can think of that might be causing it. Any other ideas? -

Re: Anyone using TribeCast??
Tue, July 27, 2004 - 2:56 PMhmmm I have that shitty program, ironically I like Norton Anti-virus but I hate Internet Security.

Re: Anyone using TribeCast??
Tue, July 27, 2004 - 8:35 PMYup, Norton Internet Security is definitely the problem! I tried disabling it and I could see the TribeCasts just fine, enabled it again and *poof!* - they disappeared! How very bizarre! Now I have to figure out which settings to fix so I can enable it and still see the TribeCasts - any tips? Thanks! -

Re: Anyone using TribeCast??
Sun, October 3, 2004 - 11:48 AMIt definitely is Norton Internet Security - I had the same problem. Now my next question - is there any way to select which tribes are displayed (if you selected a limited # of displayed tribes, versus your entire tribe population) instead of what appears to be an automatic alphabetical selection? I'm guessing no... LOL -

Haven't figured out how to change the typeface/color of the locations of the friends - if they live in a long-named city they throw off the spacing. -

but the default format is.... awkward. Haven't played around with it enough to see how I can modify its g**-awful formatting.
somehow seems related to my CSS, but I can't see any of the tags in use....
